Let’s talk primers.
Priming could be one of the most important steps in the makeup process. Primer is the base coat; it holds everything together, and it is the first thing to go on the face. It preps the face for makeup application. The difficult thing is, there are so many different kinds of primers, and each one creates a different outcome, whether that be texture, look, longevity, etc.
Personally, I have and love a handful of different primers for different reasons. Some are more illuminating, some mix better with my foundation, and some keep my makeup on longer. But one primer that will always be my go-to is the NIVEA MEN POST SHAVE BALM for sensitive skin.
Yes, you read that right. Men’s aftershave balm!
You see, this formula contains a lot of Glycerin, and Glycerin is like the glue of cosmetics. Not only does it keep makeup on longer, but it also spreads smoothly and evenly across the face. The key to using this product is to rub it evenly across the face; at first, it will feel light and more like liquid, but after a few seconds of rubbing it into the skin, it becomes more tacky and almost sticky. This is the time to apply foundation over top.
While wearing this as a primer, the skin can still breath and the primer/foundation mixture still feels light (even with full coverage). It keeps the skin moisturized and wears well throughout the day. It is a great everyday primer, and my favorite thing about it would have to be the price! Pick this up from any drugstore for $5-6.
